Dr. Yohannes T Ghebre, PhD

Dr. Yohannes T Ghebre is Professor and Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Radiation Oncology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health). Before joining UT Health, Dr. Ghebre was Associate Professor of Radiation Biology and of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston, Texas. Prior to BCM, Dr. Ghebre was Assistant Professor of Cardiovascular Sciences at the Houston Methodist Research Institute (HMRI) with a joint appointment as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at Weill Cornell Medical College. Before rising to the rank of faculty, Dr. Ghebre received extensive postdoctoral training at Stanford University, School of Medicine.

Over the years, Dr. Ghebre made a substantial contribution towards our understanding of endogenous and exogenous factors that regulate the nitric oxide synthase (NOS) pathway including their influence on the vascular endothelial system. In addition, he has made important contribution in the discovery and characterization of small molecules that modulate nitric oxide levels in the settings of tissue inflammation and fibrosis. In this regard, his work with the Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) as modulators of the NOS pathway has been featured in International Media outlets including The Wall Street Journal; Forbes Magazine; The New York Times; Washington Post; The Guardian; Science Daily; Daily Mail (UK); and Front Page of the Houston Chronicle.

For his scientific excellence, Dr. Ghebre has received numerous awards including merit-based postdoctoral fellowships, the Caroline Wiess Law Translational Research Grant, and additional grants from the American Heart Association (AHA), Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Ghebre currently runs an NIH-supported laboratory to evaluate the efficacy of candidate small molecules in mitigating tissue inflammation and fibrosis. Dr. Ghebre has published over 45 peer-reviewed articles, reviews, editorials, and book chapters which have been collectively cited over 1,500 times.

As a scientist-entrepreneur, Dr. Ghebre is Founder and Co-Founder of several small businesses including biotechnology companies developing therapeutic and cosmetic products. In 2022, he cofounded, Biomed Recruiters LLC to support the www.globalbiomedicaljobs.com platform.

Dr. Prasanna Krishnamurthy, PhD

Dr. Prasanna Krishnamurthy is a distinguished academician and researcher with over 20+ years of experience in various facets of Biomedical Sciences. He holds the position of Associate Professor and serves as the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), United States.

Dr. Krishnamurthy’s research expertise spans various fields including pathology, immunology, toxicology, cardiovascular disease, stem cells, exosomes, and preclinical animal disease models. He has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed scientific publications, which have been cited over 3900 times.

Throughout his academic and research career, Dr. Krishnamurthy has received several prestigious awards, including predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowships, and grants from esteemed organizations such as the American Heart Association (AHA), US-Department of Defense (DoD), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

At present, Dr. Krishnamurthy leads a state-of-the-art research laboratory with a primary focus on identifying molecular targets and testing gene therapy to mitigate injury-induced tissue damage and facilitate tissue repair.

Dr. Krishnamurthy is committed to educating and mentoring the next generation of researchers and Scientists. Having mentored more than 30 trainees, Dr. Krishnamurthy has significantly influenced the field of biomedicine.
